FAQ
A beater here is an older, cheap enthusiast car that runs, drives and has a title. Think 1980 to 2012 model years, asking prices up to $20,000, and most of them under $15,000. Cosmetic wear and high mileage are fine. It is not a scrap, junk or non-running car site.
No. Every listing must be a running, driving car with a title. If it needs to be towed to a yard, it does not belong here. Known issues are a required field on every listing so buyers see the flaws up front.
Three pedals are the point. Browse pages default to manual and show up to $15,000, with a toggle to show cars up to $20,000. Automatics are allowed and carry a clear Auto badge on the card.
Listing is free with an account and requires owner approval. Optional Featured placement costs $30 for 30 days, or bump to the top for $2. These are one-time payments through Stripe, not subscriptions. Browsing is public; an account is required to list, message, save cars or searches, and pay.
No. Sellers confirm they are private sellers when they post. Electric cars and hybrids are not accepted.
No. You create the listing yourself, then submit it for manual review. An administrator must approve it before it becomes public. Your dashboard shows pending review, requests for changes, and approval. Edits and renewals require another review. Approval starts the 60-day listing period; buying a promotion never bypasses review.
Use the message form on the listing. Your message is delivered to the seller dashboard on Beater for Sale and the seller email stays hidden. Email relay to the seller inbox is waiting on an email provider, so sellers need to check their dashboard.
Model years 1980 to 2012 are accepted. Select 2013 to 2015 enthusiast models are allowed from an admin-managed whitelist. The current list is shown on the sell form.
